Our Culture

What It's Like to Work Here

Working at Partners Dogs isn't a typical job — and the people who thrive here aren't typical employees. Our team is made up of people who genuinely love dogs, care about doing excellent work, and want to grow in their careers.

Every day is different. You might spend the morning working with a nervous rescue dog who's learning to trust people for the first time. After lunch, you could be teaching a puppy class full of wiggly golden retrievers. By the afternoon, you're coaching an owner through their first off-leash recall and watching the moment it clicks.

We work hard, we laugh a lot, and we go home knowing we made a real difference. The dogs we train go on to live better lives — and so do the families who love them. That's not a tagline. It's just Tuesday at Partners.

Why trainers love working here: The number one thing our team members say is that they feel like their work matters. You are not babysitting dogs — you are transforming them, and you can see the results. The second thing they say is growth. People who come in as apprentices become trainers. Trainers become senior trainers. Senior trainers become head trainers and program directors. There is no ceiling on how far you can go if you bring the work ethic and the heart. And the third thing? The people. This team genuinely cares about each other. We celebrate promotions, rally around tough cases, and build friendships that last well beyond the workday.

Why People Love Working Here

We invest in our team because we know that great trainers and staff create great outcomes for dogs and their families.

Training & Development

Every team member receives ongoing professional development — conferences, certifications, mentorship from senior trainers, and hands-on experience with a wide range of dogs and behavior cases. You'll learn more here in a year than most people learn in five.

Our trainers attend industry conferences, earn certifications through Partners Dogs University, and participate in weekly skill-building sessions led by senior staff. Whether you are learning leash handling for the first time or refining advanced behavior modification techniques, there is always a next level to reach — and we invest in helping you get there.

Team Environment

We're a close-knit crew that supports each other. No egos, no drama — just people who show up every day to do great work with dogs. You'll work alongside experienced trainers who are genuinely invested in helping you succeed.

Our team shares wins, troubleshoots tough cases together, and celebrates each other's growth. We eat lunch together, debrief after hard sessions, and show up for each other on the long days. People stay at Partners because the culture is real — not just a talking point on a careers page.

Real Career Growth

Many of our leaders started as animal care techs or daycare attendants. We promote from within and create clear paths for advancement — whether you want to become a head trainer, a manager, or build expertise in behavior modification.

Our career growth path is transparent: Apprentice → Trainer → Senior Trainer → Head Trainer → Program Director. At each level, you gain new responsibilities, higher compensation, and deeper specialization. We do not hire outside when we can grow from within — and most of our leadership team is proof of that philosophy in action.

The Right Fit

What We Look For

You don't need years of experience to join our team — but you do need the right attitude. Here's what matters most to us:

  • Genuine love for dogs — not just the cute ones, but the anxious ones, the stubborn ones, and the ones nobody else will work with
  • Work ethic — this is a physically active, hands-on job and we need people who show up ready to work
  • Coachability — the best trainers never stop learning, and neither should you
  • People skills — we train dogs, but we also educate owners, which means clear and compassionate communication matters
  • Reliability — the dogs (and your teammates) count on you being here

If that sounds like you, we'd love to meet you.

Current Open Positions

We're always looking for great people. If you don't see a role that fits but you're passionate about dogs and want to be part of our team, send us your application anyway — we keep promising candidates on file.

Dog Trainer / Training Apprentice

Scottsdale & Cave Creek • Full-Time

Work directly with dogs in our board-and-train, DaySchool, and private lesson programs. New trainers start in our apprenticeship track with hands-on mentorship from senior staff. Experience preferred but not required for the right candidate.

A day in the life: Your morning starts with board-and-train sessions — you might work a nervous rescue through leash pressure drills, then pivot to a high-energy adolescent Lab practicing place command and impulse control. After lunch, you coach an owner through their first off-leash recall in a private lesson, then run a late-afternoon DaySchool group through structured socialization. You debrief with your mentor at the end of the day, review what worked, and prep for tomorrow's dogs. No two days look the same, and that is the point.

Qualifications:

  • Genuine passion for working with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments
  • Physical ability to handle large, strong, or reactive dogs safely
  • Coachable attitude and willingness to learn our balanced training methodology
  • Previous dog training experience or PDU certification preferred but not required
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance

Growth path: Apprentice → Trainer → Senior Trainer → Head Trainer → Program Director

Animal Care Technician

Scottsdale & Cave Creek • Full-Time & Part-Time

Help care for boarding and DaySchool dogs — feeding, cleaning, enrichment, exercise, and monitoring. This is the entry point for many of our trainers. Great for someone who wants to build a career in animal care.

A day in the life: You arrive early to start morning feeds and health checks for boarding dogs. You rotate through kennel cleaning, outdoor exercise runs, and enrichment activities — puzzle feeders, scent games, supervised play. By mid-morning you are monitoring DaySchool intake, helping trainers move dogs between sessions, and keeping detailed notes on each dog's behavior and appetite. Afternoons bring more exercise, evening feeds, and handoffs to families picking up their dogs. You learn to read body language, spot early signs of stress or illness, and build confidence handling a wide range of dogs.

Qualifications:

  • Comfort handling dogs of all sizes and temperaments
  • Physical stamina for an active, on-your-feet role
  • Attention to detail for health monitoring, feeding schedules, and documentation
  • No prior professional experience required — we train you
  • Must be at least 18 years old

Growth path: Many of our current trainers started in this exact role. Animal Care Techs who show aptitude and drive regularly move into the training apprenticeship track.

DaySchool Attendant

Scottsdale • Full-Time

Supervise and engage with DaySchool dogs during structured play, socialization, and rest periods. You'll work alongside trainers to reinforce commands and build positive social skills. Must be comfortable handling dogs of all sizes and temperaments.

A day in the life: Your morning begins with greeting DaySchool dogs as they arrive — reading each dog's energy, matching them into appropriate play groups, and setting up the day's enrichment stations. Throughout the day you rotate between supervising structured play sessions, reinforcing obedience commands the trainers are working on, managing rest and crate rotation, and communicating with trainers about each dog's progress. You are the consistency layer — the person who makes sure every dog gets the right balance of activity, rest, and reinforcement throughout the day.

Qualifications:

  • Confidence handling dogs of all sizes, energy levels, and temperaments
  • Ability to read canine body language and intervene before issues escalate
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with trainers and updating families
  • Physical fitness for an active, outdoor role in Arizona weather
  • Previous experience in daycare, boarding, or animal care is a plus

Growth path: DaySchool Attendants develop handling skills and dog-reading ability that directly prepares them for the training apprenticeship. Several of our current trainers started right here.

Client Experience Coordinator

Scottsdale • Full-Time

Be the first point of contact for new and existing clients. Answer calls, schedule consultations, manage enrollments, and ensure every family feels welcomed and informed. Strong communication skills and a love for helping people are essential.

A day in the life: You open the morning by reviewing new inquiries — phone calls, emails, and web form submissions from families looking for help with their dogs. You walk a nervous first-time caller through our program options, schedule a PD360 Assessment for a family with a reactive dog, and follow up with a camp client whose dog goes home this week. Between calls, you manage the enrollment calendar, coordinate with trainers on availability, and greet families as they arrive for lessons and pickups. You are the voice and face of Partners Dogs for many families, and your warmth and clarity set the tone for their entire experience.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Warm, patient demeanor with a genuine desire to help people
  • Organizational skills for managing calendars, enrollments, and follow-ups
  • Comfort with phone systems, email, and scheduling software
  • Knowledge of dogs and training is a plus but not required — we will teach you

Growth path: Client Experience Coordinators often grow into operations management, client success leadership, or transition into training roles if their passion leads them there.

Don't see the right role? Apply anyway — we're always growing.
